001. For reptile breeders.

The breeding platform built by a reptile breeder

Not a generic website builder with a gallery page. A platform with a real genetics engine, multi-generation pedigree trees, and morph tracking built by someone who actively breeds crested geckos and already shipped two live products in this space.

002. The problem.

You are doing a lot of manual work that should be automatic

No existing tool was designed for the way reptile breeders actually work. So most of you have assembled a patchwork of apps, spreadsheets, and social posts and called it a system.

Your records live in a spreadsheet.

Pedigrees end up as screenshots. Morph calculations happen in a third-party tool and never make it back into your records. You retype the same lineage every time a buyer asks.

Your store is on MorphMarket.

You do not own the customer relationship. Listings compete with every other breeder on the platform. Your full program never gets seen.

Your clutch photos live in Facebook albums.

Incubation, lay, and hatch data are scattered across posts, DMs, and a notebook. Nothing connects to a real animal record.

Your Wix site has no concept of morphs.

Generic site builders treat reptiles like a photo gallery. There is no concept of an allele, a pedigree, or a clutch. Buyers leave looking for real information.

003. Morph genetics engine.

Not a simplified calculator. Real multi-locus genetics

Most morph calculators handle one or two traits at a time and have no connection to your actual breeding records. The genetics engine in Breed Ledger is built directly into every animal profile, runs the same code that powers Geckistry in production, and models the actual complexity of reptile morphs correctly.

  • Multi-locus morph prediction. Enter your pairing and see expected offspring ratios before you breed. Crested geckos, ball pythons, leopard geckos, and more.
  • Correct dominance modeling. Recessive, dominant, co-dominant, incomplete dominant, and polygenic traits all inherit correctly. Het carriers tracked across generations.
  • Lethal combination warnings. The platform flags dangerous pairings before you make them. Lilly White x Lilly White in crested geckos. Spider x Spider in ball pythons. No post-hoc surprises.
  • Crested gecko genetics seeded at launch with full allele data from Geckistry production. Real data from day one, not a demo dataset.
  • Genetics display on every animal profile and pedigree tree. Buyers see morph breakdowns without having to ask.

004. clutch and incubation tracking.

Your clutch records and your website. One system.

Every clutch you track in Breed Ledger becomes a public announcement on your site. Lay date, incubation data, expected hatch window, and hatchling availability all update in real time. Buyers see current status without you having to post separately on Facebook or Instagram.

  • Clutch records with lay date, incubation temperature, expected hatch date, and individual hatchling records linked to parents.
  • Species-appropriate labels throughout. Clutches, not litters. Hatchlings, not puppies. Incubation, not gestation.
  • Hatchling records auto-populate pedigree from parent records. No re-entering sire and dam data you already have.
  • Availability status badges on every hatchling. Available, reserved, and sold statuses visible to buyers on your public site.
  • Buyer waitlist for upcoming clutches. Buyers sign up directly through your site instead of messaging you.

005. Pedigree trees.

Multi-generation pedigrees that build themselves

Link a sire and dam to any animal and the pedigree tree builds automatically. Update a record once and it cascades everywhere that animal appears across your entire collection. For reptile breeders proving lineage to serious buyers, this replaces the screenshot of a family tree you assembled by hand.

  • Visual pedigree trees on every animal profile. Not a list of ancestor names. A clickable, multi-generation tree.
  • Morph and genetics data embedded in the pedigree. Every ancestor shows their known genetics alongside their name.
  • Cross-breeder lineage linking with approval workflow. If an animal in your pedigree was bred by someone else on the platform, the trees connect with their confirmation.
  • Smart cascading updates. Change a name or detail and it propagates everywhere that animal appears.

006. QR codes to live records.

Tub labels that tell the whole story

Generate a QR code for any animal in your collection. Print it on a tub label, cage card, or expo display. A buyer scans the code and sees the animal's full profile, pedigree, genetics, and photos in real time. Not a static PDF. A live record that updates any time you do.

  • QR codes linked to each animal's live record. Scan at any time for the current profile.
  • Print-ready for tub labels, cage cards, and expo display cards. Standard label dimensions supported.
  • Buyers and vets see the full record: morph breakdown, pedigree, hatch date, parent information, and current status.

007. Why not just MorphMarket?

MorphMarket and Breed Ledger do different things.

MorphMarket is a marketplace and it is good at it. Reach, traffic, transaction flow, all built specifically for the reptile community.

But a store on MorphMarket is not your site. The pages do not rank for your collection's name. Your animals compete in the same listings as everyone else. Buyers leave the platform without ever seeing your full program.

Breed Ledger is the home base. Your own collection site, your records, your pedigrees, your genetics engine, your buyer waitlist. Buyers landing on your Breed Ledger site see your full program: every animal, every clutch, every pedigree, every photo, organized and updated by you.

Use MorphMarket for what it does well. Use Breed Ledger for everything else.

008. Built by a reptile breeder.

The genetics engine was not built from a spec sheet

I breed crested geckos under Geckistry. Not past tense. Right now. The platform that handles my breeding records, my pedigrees, my genetics calculations, and my public listings runs the same code Breed Ledger uses. The two share an engine, not just a marketing claim.

ReptiDex went from zero to 73 registered users tracking 259 animals across 69 collections in its first 20 days. Real reptile breeders putting real animals into the system, generating real parent-offspring links and multi-generation pedigrees. The QR-code-to-live-record pattern came directly out of that production usage.

Breed Ledger is species-agnostic by design. Read the full background.

010. Common questions.

The actual questions, from reptile breeders evaluating the platform.

Does Breed Ledger have a morph calculator?
Yes. The genetics engine handles multi-locus morph prediction for crested geckos, ball pythons, leopard geckos, and more. It runs the same allele data already powering Geckistry in production. Enter a pairing on any pair of animals in your collection and you see expected offspring ratios before you breed, with lethal combinations flagged so you do not make the spider x spider mistake.
Does Breed Ledger track clutches and incubation?
Yes. Clutch records with lay date, incubation temperature, expected hatch window, and individual hatchling records all live in the platform. Hatchlings auto-populate the pedigree from the parent records you already entered. Buyers see availability status on your public collection site in real time.
Does Breed Ledger handle ball python morphs?
Ball python morph genetics with full dominance modeling and lethal-combination warnings is on the platform. Spider complex pairings get flagged before you make them; super pastel + super pastel risks are visible up front. The allele set continues to grow as breeders join and contribute corrections.
Why not just use MorphMarket?
MorphMarket is a marketplace and it is good at it. Breed Ledger is your home base: your own site, your records, your pedigrees, your genetics engine, your buyer waitlist. The two solve different problems. Most reptile breeders use both: MorphMarket for the listing reach, Breed Ledger for the platform under their program.
Can I print QR codes for tubs and expo displays?
Yes. Every animal in your collection has a QR code you can print on tub labels, cage cards, or expo display cards. A buyer scans the code at the table and sees the animal's full live profile with morph breakdown, pedigree, hatch date, and current status. The QR points at the live record, not a static PDF, so it updates every time you do.
Do I need a separate site builder?
No. Your collection website is part of the platform. You manage animals, clutches, pedigrees, and your public site in one place. When you update a record, your site updates. No copy-pasting between tools, no synced spreadsheet, no separate hosting bill.
